30% Savings at a Tijuana Maquiladora Warehouse

All case studies

A 3,500 m² maquiladora warehouse in Tijuana faced critical operational control problems: air conditioners running outside business hours, uncontrolled access and isolated CCTV systems that prevented integrated supervision.

The company operated two official shifts (6:00–14:00 and 14:00–22:00) in a finished goods warehouse with temperature-sensitive processes. It was calculated that at least 30% of electricity consumption was 'non-productive' (without staff or active processes), representing annual waste of over $500,000 MXN.

DOMOHOME designed and implemented a scalable intelligent ecosystem based on commercial-grade IoT devices: smart thermostats with three operating modes (Production, Low Occupancy and Weekend), smart locks at 8 strategic points with individual credentials per profile, and integration of 24 IP cameras into a central supervision panel with web dashboard and mobile app.

The implementation was completed in 12 weeks without affecting production. Automatic weekly and monthly reports were integrated into operational meetings, and staff quickly adopted the 'smart warehouse' culture, naturally adhering to schedules and policies.

We used to depend on individual staff discipline to turn off equipment. Now the system does it automatically. We have reduced our electricity bill by almost a third and have total control of who enters and exits the warehouse. The investment paid for itself in just over a year.
